Life has been rough! Though not much is known about Sammi's past, she was dropped off during the night at Town Lake Animal Shelter underweight and infested with heartworms. She was understandably afraid and nervous - dogs barking all the time, strange sights and smells, and just a little human contact. Sammi stayed mostly at the back of her kennel, wandering cautiously to the front whenever a kind voice approached. Just a few days later, her fate was evaluated - was she a candidate for adoption or euthanasia? Unfortunately, Sammi was chosen for euthanasia, due to the fact she was just another nervous black and tan dog, and the shelter just didn't have enough time or space. Enter Blue Dog Rescue - the day the decision was made, Sammi caught the eye of a foster, who immediately pulled her out after learning about the situation.

Sammi is now very comfortable and friendly towards people - she loves attention and believes she is a 30 pound lap dog! Want to watch TV? No problem! She'll crawl on the couch right next to you or lay at your feet. Fetch? Excellent! She loves chasing tennis balls. Sammi is also completely house trained, microchipped, crate-trained, spayed, and is up-to-date on her vaccinations She is dog friendly and registered with the city of Austin. For more information, please email stephanie@bluedogrescue.com.

Sadly, all of Sammi's problems aren't completely over. As stated above, Sammi will undergo treatment to solve her heartworm infestation. Please consider sponsoring her and helping her enjoy life!
